The games we look forward to in 2022

Despite numerous release delays and pushbacks, 2021 has been an eventful year for gamers. From the anticipation of Far Cry 6 to the horrors of Resident Evil Village, the year also offered players some indie surprises like Disco Elysium: The Final Cut and Hades.

But as the New Year approaches, players have a lot more to look forward to. From long-awaited sequels to promising new titles, here are some of the hottest video games coming out in 2022.

God of War Ragnarok

From the depths of the Underworld to the heights of Jotunheim, the Phantom of Sparta has repeatedly risen from its ashes. But the battle is not over yet. True to the portents of the last game, Kratos and Atreus are all set to return in the highly anticipated God of War Ragnarok. As a direct sequel to the Game of the Year 2018, Ragnarok has rightly earned its share of anticipation from gamers around the world.

With an epic trailer revealed during Sony’s PlayStation Showcase 2021, the latest entry in Kratos history introduces players to new realms, new characters, and a few old foes. Scheduled to be the “finale” of the Nordic adventures of God of War, Ragnarok indeed promises to be an epic conclusion to Kratos and Atreus’ journey.

Breath of the Wild 2

While Nintendo is vague on the exact release date, the hype for Breath of the Wild 2 has only grown since its trailer released two years ago.

While the magic of Breath of the Wild is hard to live with, Nintendo promises to stun once again as Link returns with new paraglider mechanics, floating cities, and an all-new threat to protect Hyrule from.

Horizon forbidden to the west

2022 is set to be an exciting year for RPG fans with another epic open-world adventure awaiting its release in February. In the sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn, players will reunite with Aloy as she sets out to do what she does best – hunt robots and save the world. With fans especially excited to see how the franchise harnesses next-gen gameplay mechanics, Forbidden West heavily teases new places to explore, mysteries to uncover, and machines to fight off as Aloy’s journey continues into an Earth. post-apocalyptic.

The latest addition to FromSoftware’s Soulsborne franchise is well worth the hype, not only for seasoned gamers, but also for fans of Game of Thrones author George RR Martin. The high-profile game, coupled with the release of the upcoming Fantastic Beasts movie, makes 2022 a year to look forward to for Potterheads around the world.
